Encounter with a Wildcat
On a cold January afternoon, the sun was shining and the air was clear, so I decided to head out into nature with my spotting scope and painting utensils. I had no particular subject in mind and I would almost have gone home without a picture if I hadn’t noticed a small movement in front of me. I took the binoculars, looked out for the animal and, to my great delight and surprise, spotted a wildcat. It hadn’t spotted me and so I thought I could try to draw a sketch of it. So I sat down carefully but quickly on my little chair, unpacked my things and hurriedly started painting. The cat gave me very little time and soon disappeared into the dry grass. By the time I started watercolouring, it had become so cold that the water in the brush froze and ice crystals formed on the paper. But it was enough for a sketch and I returned home with a wonderful experience.
